Personal Hygiene: Assistance with the care of teeth, dentures, shaving, filing of nails, and all other basic personal hygiene and grooming needs. This includes supervising the individual when he or she can participate in the care of his or her appearance and performing grooming tasks for him or her when he or she is unable to partake in such activity. We do not clip clients' nails!
Dressing: Assistance with dressing and undressing includes supervising the individual when him or her can dress and undress when guided. Assisting with difficult tasks such as tying of shoes, buttoning up clothes, and completely dressing and undressing when him or her is unable to participate in such activity.
Bathing: Assisting the individual to wash his or her body including, supervising them when he or she can bathe him or herself. When guiding them with the difficult tasks such as getting in or out of the tub or washing back and completely bathing them when he or she is totally unable to wash themselves.
Eating: Assisting with eating includes supervising the individual when he or she is able to feed themselves when guided. Assisting with cutting up food when needed as well as feeding the client if they are not able to do so.
Toileting: Assisting with bladder and bowel problems, including supervising the client when he or she can take care of his or her own toileting needs when guided. Helping him or her to and from the bathroom, assisting with bedpan routines, diapering, and lifting him or her on and off the toilet.
Ambulation: Assisting the client to move around includes supervising the client when he or she can walk alone or with a walker, cane, or other device when guided. Assisting with the difficult parts of walking such as climbing stairs, supervising him or her when he or she is able to participate wheelchair when guided. Pushing the wheelchair and providing constant physical assistance to the individual when he or she is completely unable to walk alone or with any mechanical device.
Transfer: Assisting with getting in and out of bed or wheelchair to on and off the toilet, in and out of chairs, or tub, includes supervising the individual when he or she is able to transfer when guided. Helping the client when he or she can assist with his of her transfer. Lifting the individual when he or she is unable to assist in her transfer requires specialized training.
Positioning: Assisting the client to the desired position which includes assistance in turning and positioning to prevent secondary disabilities such as contracture and balance defects.
Self-Medication: Assisting the individual to self administer medications perscribed by his or her phsician. This includes reminding the client when it is time to take the medication(s), handing the medication container(s) to the client as well as opening the container for him or her. WE NEVER ADMINISTER MEDICATIONS TO THE CLIENT, NOR DO WE PUT MEDICATIONS UP IN CONTAINERS DAILY/WEEKLY.
Body Care: Assisting the client with exercises, skin care, including ointments, lotions, and creams, changing bandages, that do not require a professional nurse or doctor. Assisting to wash feet, soak and lotion them, filing toenails. This excludes changing bandages that a sterile procedure may be needed in order to protect the health of the individual.
Travel to Medical Services: Accompany or transportation to medical offices, and clinics to obtain medical procedure, diagnosis, or treatment.
Essential Shopping: Assistance to shop in order to meet the individual's health and nutritional needs. Shopping for food, medical supplies, medications, and household items. Assist the individual when he or she is able to participate and travel along as well as assisting to complete the task if he or she is unable to participate.
Meal Preparation: Assisting with household tasks such as preparing meals. This includes meal planning diabetic and other special diets, assisting people to prepare meals who can participate and assisting people by preparing the food for those who cannot participate.
Household Assistance: Assisting with all household tasks essential to a persons health and welfare. These tasks are not limited to changing bed linens, laundering linens and clothing used by the client, and only the areas of the clients dwelling. It is to be needed and essential to promote a clean functioning home environment.
Standby Assistance: We are available to help our individuals with tasks that cannot be scheduled toileting, ambulation, transfer positioning, medications and be able to promote protective supervision to those who cannot be left alone because of confusion, forgetfulness, and lack of judgement.
